Amo las fiestas porque son los espacios perfectos para explorar dos conceptos que me fascinan: el amor y la juventud.
Me fascina sacar fotos de desconocidos mostrándose vulnerables y divirtiéndose. Me encanta que el medio analógico no me permita saber cómo se vieron esos pequeños recortes de tiempo hasta mucho después de que la fiesta haya terminado.
Esta es mi fiesta: mi arte y mi amor.

I love parties because they are perfect spaces to explore two concepts that fascinate me: love and youth.
I am fascinated by taking photos of strangers showing themselves vulnerable and having fun. I love that the analog medium doesn’t allow me to know how those little slices of time looked until long after the party is over.
This is my party: my art and my love.
Una manera de expresarme. Encuentro como una forma de plasmar todos mis sentimientos y mis emociones. También poder transmitir en una imagen lo que no puedo decir con palabras y es ahí donde encuentro una forma de conectar con otras personas de otra manera.
La acción de fotografiar que para mí es súper íntimo. Se genera un vínculo distinto del que se podría generar a través de la palabra. Es una herramienta de comunicación e introspección.
Aprendiendo a comunicar un sentimiento a través de una imagen, creo que también aprendo yo a procesar ese sentimiento y a manejarlo de otra forma que haciéndolo sin un medio artístico para canalizarlo, no sé si podría.
A way to express myself. I find it as a way to capture all my feelings and emotions. Also, to convey in an image what I cannot say with words, and it's there where I find a way to connect with other people differently. The act of photographing, which for me is super intimate. It generates a different bond than the one that could be generated through words. It's a tool for communication and introspection. Learning to communicate a feeling through an image, I believe that I also learn to process that feeling and handle it in a way that without an artistic medium to channel it, I don't know if I could.
Yo tengo una obsesión poco sana con las fiestas en las que creo que son como una oda total a la juventud y esta obsesión empezó cuando era adolescente. Siento que la adolescencia es como el momento más importante en el que se dan las fiestas, pero creo que después también hay un periodo, o sea, ahora yo tengo 21 años, que es como ese paso entre la adolescencia y la adultez, que no sabes bien dónde estás parado y que no tenes nada para hacer y que encima el futuro parece súper oscuro y lejano. Entonces lo único que queda es querer divertirse a través de la música y el baile. Me parece que la fiesta es el lugar perfecto para explorar la juventud, el amor y la amistad que son conceptos muy importantes. Es lo que intento retratar.
I have an unhealthy obsession with parties, which I believe are like a total ode to youth, and this obsession began when I was a teenager. I feel that adolescence is like the most important time when parties happen, but I also think that afterwards there's a period—like now, I'm 21—that is like the transition between adolescence and adulthood, where you don't really know where you stand and you have nothing to do, and on top of that, the future seems super dark and distant. So all that's left is wanting to have fun through music and dance. I think the party is the perfect place to explore youth, love, and friendship, which are very important concepts. That's what I try to portray.
La fiesta funciona como un espacio de vínculo entre las personas. En el prólogo de The Ballad of Sexual Dependency, Nan goldin al hablar su fiesta siento que está reclamando un espacio. De esta manera, yo no me estoy metiendo en un espacio en el que no pertenezco, sino que estoy construyendo mi propio espacio como persona que saca fotos, y eso es mi fiesta.
Es una visión de un mundo que es muy único. Lo que sucede en una fiesta no sucede en ningún lado.
The party serves as a space for connection between people. In the prologue of The Ballad of Sexual Dependency, when Nan Goldin talks about her party, I feel she's claiming a space. In this way, I'm not intruding into a space where I don't belong, but rather, I'm constructing my own space as a person who takes photos, and that's my party.
It's a vision of a world that is very unique. What happens at a party doesn't happen anywhere else.
Yo lo transito con mucho orgullo, la verdad. Pero también reconociendo que es un privilegio porque hoy en día no todo el mundo puede darse el gusto de poder gastar en un rollo ni tampoco tener el tiempo para eso. Por qué quizás uno no puede aprender a sacar fotos por que tiene que trabajar en otras cosas pero para mi es algo muy lindo.
Siento que vivimos en un país que nos da mucho contenido para crear y para expresarse y creo que también hay una comunidad de gente muy talentosa, que está ahí y es bastante solidaria y se pueden crear cosas hermosas a partir de eso.
Ahora quizás no tanto, pero hay oportunidades de hacerse conocer y de conocer a otras personas que hacen lo mismo.
Y eso está porque no sólo por conocer gente y ver otras visiones del mundo, sino que además podes conectarte y crear algo en conjunto.
I navigate it with a lot of pride, honestly. But I also recognize that it's a privilege because not everyone can afford to spend on film or even have the time for it. Maybe someone can't learn to take photos because they have to work on other things, but for me, it's something very beautiful.
I feel that we live in a country that provides us with a lot of content to create and express ourselves, and I also believe that there's a community of very talented people here who are quite supportive, and beautiful things can be created from that.
Perhaps not so much now, but there are opportunities to make yourself known and to meet other people who do the same.
And that's not only for meeting people and seeing other perspectives of the world, but also because you can connect and create something together.
Que lo vean sin buscar mucho. Honestamente que no traten de sacar conclusiones muy profundas, yo estoy mostrando algo que es importante para mí y eso es, básicamente todo como que no aspiro a mucho más.
Que lo vean y piensen que es divertido y que les gustaría que saque fotos en su fiesta.
Que se diviertan, que lo disfruten y que sigan con su vida y si tienen ganas de preguntar algo, más que bienvenidos, pero no hace falta.
I'd like them to see it without searching too deeply. Honestly, I don't want them to try to draw very profound conclusions. I'm showing something that's important to me, and that's basically it—I don't aspire to much more.
I want them to see it and think it's fun, that they'd like me to take photos at their party.
I want them to have fun, to enjoy it, and then carry on with their lives. If they feel like asking something, they're more than welcome, but it's not necessary.
