INTERVIEW

What do you find in your photography?

I am a photographer, half Italian and half Brazilian, who arrived in Argentina two years ago. I am many things, and I like to do my best in what I do, but the truth is that photography is what has come into my life and brought together everything I knew and all the stories I have collected throughout my life. Everything I have always been has come together in one place, building a path.
What does black and white represent in your composition?

With black and white, you start to see very different things. When you look for black and white, there is a whole investigation into light, darkness, texture, and geometry. It makes you observe things differently, and what I like most about the composition is putting my body into taking the photo. Every thought arises from the geometry of the composition or the desire to fit lighting or a space. Likewise, there are times when I feel that I lose a lot by shooting only in black and white, but I naturally gravitated towards that side.

What does your composition evoke in you, or what moves you about photography in general?

It makes me want to take photos of things I already know and observe. There may be things that catch my attention more, but what moves me is observing the material when I get home and have time to review it. It is at that moment that I start thinking and observe the universe I managed to capture. What moves me is the moment after the photo; during the process, I am completely cold. I have all the information and try to capture everything in the best possible way. I need to be sensitive enough to find and capture that moment but not so sensitive that things move me.

What do you feel is reflected in your photographs?

I want my photos to have an identity. I believe it is possible to build a personal identity in a way that gives my photographs a very specific style. Even so, I would not like to box myself into a single category, but rather to develop a personal brand through my photography.I do think I am strongly reflected in my images. I like not being the protagonist while still being present in them. Everyone picks up a camera and takes a different photograph. I like when my vision and my gaze are valued, because every way of seeing the universe reflects the person within that universe. The more you explore how a photograph is made, the more distinct it becomes, and the more it feels like your own.

Do you feel that to be an artist you have to be vulnerable?

To be a good artist, you have to be vulnerable. You need to open something up and show yourself as you are in order to truly reach people. Vulnerability is the raw material of who each person is. You can look at your own art as if it belonged to someone else, but being vulnerable allows you to be sensitive, and that sensitivity always translates the thoughts that emerge from the artist. It brings the artwork to its fullest expression.I make photography for myself, not to change the world. There are many things behind my photographs that allow me to show my sensitivity and my thoughts, and to channel a way of expressing myself that, so far, is the one that has made the most sense to me.

What does being young mean to you?

Being young is the phase in which one discovers oneself. I truly discovered the "Who am I" when I realized I was always learning. But when you can choose a path that makes you go out into the world, you really find a big part of yourself combined with beautiful and ugly things. I see youth as a phase of my life that gives me the power to get where I want to go, the phase in which I found complete motivation.
I also believe that when you build the person you have always been into the person you want to be, it all starts there. I think that when I reach the place I want to reach, I will start to grow in other ways. Today, I want to work with photography and video. I want it to never be boring.
