PARA DETENERNOS EN EL TIEMPO
Estudio arquitectura y que me guste mucho el arte y la fotografía es parte de mi personalidad. Saco fotos desde que tengo uso de razón. Desde que tenía las cámaras usadas chiquitas de mi mamá y le robaba las compactas para sacar fotos en los viajes. La fotografía siempre fue mi mano derecha, como mi herramienta para tenerla siempre conmigo. También empecé un poco sin querer, como jugando.
I study architecture, and my fondness for art and photography is part of my personality. I've been taking photos for as long as I can remember. Since I was little, I used to grab my mom's small, used cameras and steal her compact ones to take photos on trips. Photography has always been my right hand, my tool to have it with me always. I also started a bit unintentionally, almost like playing.
Me parece que las personas y la cotidianidad son lo que observo al querer sacar una foto. Me gusta mucho sacarle fotos a mis amigas y retratar la idea de que somos jóvenes y mostrar lo que estamos haciendo. Me interesa retratar la esencia de las personas, aunque no me gusta ser vista cuando saco fotos entonces intento hacerlo rápido. Me gusta que mi trabajo sea anónimo y poder pasar desapercibida.
It seems to me that people and everyday life are what I observe when I want to take a photo. I really enjoy taking photos of my friends and portraying the idea that we are young and showing what we are doing. I am interested in capturing the essence of people, although I don't like to be seen when I take photos, so I try to do it quickly. I like my work to be anonymous and to be able to go unnoticed.
En lo personal siento que mis amigos fueron muy parte y son muy parte de mi juventud. También me hicieron crecer mucho en mi personalidad.
Creo que nuestra generación es una a la que le interesan muchas cosas pero al mismo tiempo somos muy juzgados por el ojo ajeno. No me veo viviendo en otro momento histórico. Siento que tenemos un montón de comodidades y un montón de herramientas y una apertura de mente que otras generaciones no tuvieron. Igualmente, al final del día estamos aprendiendo y siempre van a haber cosas que están bien y otras que están mal. Siento que es una generación a la que verdaderamente quiero que le vaya bien.
Hay muchas veces en las que la crítica va por la desconexión a causa de la tecnología. Pero también es esa tecnología la que puede ser una herramienta de cambio.
I believe that our generation is one that is interested in many things but at the same time, we are heavily judged by others. I can't see myself living in another historical moment. I feel that we have a lot of comforts and a lot of tools and an open-mindedness that other generations did not have. However, at the end of the day, we are learning, and there will always be things that are right and things that are wrong. I feel that it's a generation that I truly want to succeed.
There are many times when criticism arises due to the disconnection caused by technology. But it is also that technology that can be a tool for change.
Siento que hay una diferencia con mis amigas, ya que con ellas hay una situación mucho mas de retrato. Ellas saben que estoy sacando una foto entonces son dos situaciones completamente diferentes. Con desconocidos hay que buscar que la forma sea sutil y que quien esté retratando no se sienta tensa al tener una cámara al frente suyo.
Me parece que son mundos muy distintos pero a su vez hermosos.
I feel that there is a difference compared to taking photos of my friends because with them, there's more of a portrait situation. They know I'm taking a photo, so it's two completely different situations. With strangers, I have to ensure that the approach is subtle and that the person being photographed doesn't feel tense with a camera in front of them.
I think they are very different worlds but also beautiful in their own ways.
En Buenos Aires me cuesta sentirme anónima y no me gusta salir mucho con la cámara, si bien me encantaría hacer lo mismo que hago cuando estoy de viaje. En ese caso sí me siento totalmente anónima y me gusta que en eso la situación de encontrar una foto se vuelva más difícil, porque hay que pasar desapercibida.
Siento que la fotografía y el ser artista me ayudan a retratar momentos que también me hacen mostrarme a mí de una forma vulnerable. También el exponer mis fotografías me hace conectar en un nivel más personal con el público, aunque me ha pasado de exponer en lugares masivos y que esa conexión se pierda. Es otra manera de expresar la cuestión del anonimato.
In Buenos Aires, I find it hard to feel anonymous, and I don't like to go out much with the camera, even though I would love to do the same as I do when I'm traveling. In that case, I do feel completely anonymous, and I like that in those situations, finding a photo becomes more challenging because I have to blend in.
I feel that photography and being an artist help me capture moments that also make me show myself in a vulnerable way. Also, exhibiting my photographs allows me to connect on a more personal level with the audience, although I have experienced exhibiting in massive places where that connection gets lost. It's another way to express the issue of anonymity.
A lo que aspiro es que miren mis fotos y piensen que son dedicadas porque siento que lo hermoso de compartir tu arte y tener una identidad propia es poder reflejar el trabajo de mi ojo y transmitir una esencia. Y también siento que es un trabajo que lo hago no sólo por mí sino para mis amigos y las personas que conozco.
What I aspire to is for them to look at my photos and think that they are heartfelt because I feel that the beauty of sharing your art and having your own identity is being able to reflect the work of my eye and convey an essence. And I also feel that it's a job that I do not just for myself but for my friends and the people I know.
