Crecí en un contexto donde lo instantáneo es esperable, en un tiempo que no existe y donde la soledad se desarrolla en la muchedumbre de las calles. Creo que mi fotografía está inundada por estas dos ideas, el tiempo y la soledad. Busco la quietud y la tranquilidad a solas.
I grew up in a context where the instantaneous is expected in a time that doesn't exist and where solitude develops in the crowd of the streets. I believe my photography is flooded by these two ideas, time and solitude.
I seek stillness and tranquility alone.
La saturación que caracteriza a esta colección expresa el peso de la juventud. Colores y valores muy contrastados. Sombras y luces fuertes. Una saturación teórica.
The saturation that characterizes this collection expresses the weight of youth. Very contrasting colors and values. Strong shadows and lights. A theoretical saturation.
La juventud siempre se aparece como “la mejor época” de cualquier persona, ya pasada o por venir. Pero cuando la transitas, el mundo se vuelve en tu contra. No hay espacio para el error del crecer. Creo que la tardanza en el tiempo es luchar contra eso. Contra la indecisión de un mundo que te hace crecer cada vez más rápido.
Youth always appears as "the best time" of anyone's life, either past or yet to come. But when you experience it, the world turns against you. There is no room for the mistakes of growing up. I believe that a delay in time is fighting against that. Against the indecision of a world that makes you grow up faster and faster.
Tengo la suerte y el privilegio de no solo haber nacido en un contexto socioeconómico que me permitió mudarme a Buenos Aires, si no que también trabajo y me muevo en un ambiente “””artístico”””” donde se me ha facilitado el acceso a oportunidades. Fuera de mi caso particular, creo que los espacios artísticos cada vez son más reducidos. No sólo encarnan una lucha anti elitísta que no ponen en práctica, sin contactos es muy difícil que se abra una puerta.
I had and have the luck and privilege of not only being born into a socio-economic context that allowed me to move to Buenos Aires, but also of working and moving in an “artistic” environment where access to opportunities has been made easier for me. Outside of my particular case, I believe that artistic spaces are becoming increasingly limited. They not only embody an anti-elitist struggle that they do not practice, but if you don't know someone, it's very difficult to get a door to open for you.
Como tengo una formación académica sociológica, tengo una concepción del arte como un
campo de batallas a lo Bourdieu, por lo que para mi la creación de una comunidad de artistas debe estar inundada por la lucha de la apropiación de significados. El buen gusto y lo que se considera arte no existe. Son solo palabras vacías que algunas personas llenaron a su arbitrariedad. Nos toca reapropiarlas.
Since I have an academic background in sociology, I have a conception of art as a field of struggles à la Bourdieu. Therefore, for me, the creation of a community of artists must be inundated by the struggle for the appropriation of meanings. Good taste and what is considered art do not exist. They are just empty words that some people have filled with their own arbitrariness. It is up to us to reappropriate them.
